Seed Starting
We have started seeds in trays in the basement. While light is not needed to germinate most seeds, the light keeps the trays temperature just over 70 degrees for optimum germination. Leeks, onions, celery, celeriac and parsley have been seeded. Once the plants emerge the lights will be on for 16 hours per day. Once it warms up enough, the seedlings will move into the greenhouse. The tool that Mei and I are using in the photo is called a dibbler. Don and Li made this for me to make holes in the soil for the seeds.
